The Estate of Lucian Freud

Lucian Freud Estate presents four new limited edition prints, encompassing the breadth of his career as a portrait painter.

Girl in Bed, 1953 portrays Lady Caroline Blackwood with Freud’s signature intensified features, while Reflection with Two Children marks a pivotal moment of experimentation when the artist used mirrors to paint his own image, decorated by portraits of his children.

Double Portrait, 1988-90 captures a tender moment between sitter and the family dog Pluto, their poses revealing the hours of stillness required for Freud’s demanding painting-from-life process. Self Portrait (Reflection), 2002 shows the artist aged 70 at the height of his creative powers, often working into the small hours of the night during this period.

Our expert printmakers at Make-Ready closely collaborated with Lucian Freud Estate to reproduce all four original paintings, using high-resolution photography and 310gsm Hahnemühle German Etching paper.
