Julian Schnabel releases a new trio of limited edition silkscreen prints drawn from his celebrated Big Girl Paintings.
As with all the works in this series, Don’t Let It Bring You Down, It’s Only Castles Burning (For Neil Young) II is an enigmatic portrait characterised by the striking absence of eyes. By removing the subject’s gaze, the artist shifts the viewer’s attention away from expression and towards the composition itself. Originally created on a monumental scale of between seven and thirteen feet, Schnabel has revisited this figure several times over the past few decades. Widely exhibited, with features in the Gagosian Gallery and the Brant Foundation, the Big Girl Paintings are among Schnabel’s most recognised bodies of work.
A 24-layer limited edition silkscreen, this piece is one of three interconnected works in our latest collaboration with the artist – and marks the first ever translation of the Big Girl Paintings into prints on paper.
