Jonny Niesche pushes the limits of blue in an emotive limited edition print.

Musk romance in deepest blue is based on the words of philosopher Gaston Bachelard, who saw colour as a gateway to emotion and imagination. The depth of feeling associated with navy is offset by sky blue, pointing towards lighter feelings such reverie and dreams. This rich interplay of colour is exemplar of Jonny's ability to bring a mirror-like quality to his work.

The edition is based upon an original textile work, refined into the medium of print. For the artist, the print will become complete once collectors have connected their own memories and emotions to the colours.

First there is nothing, then there is a deep nothing, then there is blue

Gaston Bachelard
