Our latest collaboration with masterful Cuban painter Tomás Sánchez, available to order for 24 hours only, presents a unique opportunity to acquire one of the artist’s emblematic dreamscapes.

En el paisaje interior, or ‘in the inner landscape,’ references the spiritual underpinnings of Sánchez’ practice – connecting the serenity tangible within the work not only with nature, but with our own capacity for meditation. Based on an original painting, the work’s symmetrical composition evokes the majesty of a cathedral nave in verdant rainforest form.

The edition will be printed using natural pigment-based inks in collaboration with a print house and paper mill who operate entirely on renewable energy sources. “The quality of these prints and how they respect the light and colour of the originals allows a broader public to have closer contact with my work.”

Tomás Sánchez11 collaborationsTomás Sánchez's symbolic landscapes have made him one of the most important living Cuban artists. Part of Volumen Uno in the 80s, a movement that resisted the heavily censored Cuban art of the time, he has since received international recognition, with auction prices over USD 600,000. Inspired by the Romantics and his daily meditation practice, Tomás paints the wild beauty of his homeland, as well as harrowing panoramic views of garbage dumps. The works are incredibly detailed with a lush tropical palette, encompassing the physical wonder of the natural world, its immense spiritual power, and humankind's tendency to destroy it. Steeped in allegory, Tomás's art reinterprets traditional modes of painting to create an uncanny paradise that is at once hopeful and threatening.
