Katharina Grosse is a Berlin-based artist renowned for her monumental, site-specific paintings, which transpose explosive swathes of colour directly onto buildings, interiors and landscapes.
Approaching painting as a physical, multi-sensory act, she uses a spray gun to distance the artistic gesture from the hand, creating what she describes as "a screen between producer and spectator," and transforming surfaces and spaces into immersive experiences – guided by a process of "absolute trust" in the material and moment.
